Learning with games (games) is one method to attract students' attention in the learning process. With gamification techniques students are more enthusiastic, active, feel curious, and of course physically move so that drowsiness will keep students away. Material using ZERO and ONE binary cards that are always related to number conversion requires a strong theoretical understanding because the material will be sustainable in the next material. Usually vocational students do not like numbers, they prefer direct practice. In order for students to feel interested in this material, I made use of it by giving an initial stimulus by using this binary card to guess the date and month of birth of one of the students. When the enthusiasm of students' curiosity peaks, we can explain that this binary conversion material is the key to its manufacture. Principles of Learning with Binary Cards The conversion of binary numbers to decimal numbers is one of the basic competencies that must be mastered by students, especially students who are in Vocational Vocational Schools in audio video engineering. This material deals with ZERO and ONE numbers to produce decimal numbers. In its application in digital circuits, for example, there are 3 switches, each of which is positioned ZERO, ONE, ZERO (note: Zero, the switch is off and ONE, the switch is on) it will produce a display of number 2. Mathematically written: 0 0 1 = 1 0 1 0 = 2 0 1 1 = 3 etc. The theoretical material above is an example of learning the conversion of binary numbers to decimal numbers. Because the connection with counting and numbers sometimes complicates students and they feel less interested. Even though they have to master this concept before making a simple digital counter later. By innovating a math game, learning number conversion is getting more interesting with the Binary Card Guessing Date of Birth. Not only can you guess the date of birth, binary cards can also guess the month of birth.
Before the lesson started, I did a demonstration to guess the birth date of some students using binary cards. Students are starting to get curious because I can guess their birth date. This curiosity is the best moment for me to deliver binary number conversion material because in fact I am not an astrologer let alone a shaman but an electronics teacher who uses the principle of binary number conversion in guessing their birth date. By mastering this binary number conversion material, they will be able to make their own birth date guessing cards according to their respective creations. So that when given questions about binary students will be able to solve them. Indeed, when we do gamification, the class will be noisy because everyone is active independently.

Game-based learning has gained considerable traction since 2003, when James Gee began to describe the impact of game play on cognitive development. Since then, research, and interest in, the potential of gaming on learning has exploded, as has the diversity of games themselves, with the emergence of serious games as a genre, the proliferation of gaming platforms, and the evolution of games on mobile devices. Our students today are looking to be engaged and challenged - with a need to see a connection to their world. It is apparent that simulation is a key component of the 21st century. “The game becomes a context for what the learning will be about.” When considering 'gamification' in the context of education, curriculum outcomes do not change- rather the change is seen in how we teach. There will be a strong connection to curriculum knowledge, skills and understandings and these will be explicitly communicated throughout learning experiences. Research shows that game-based learning reflects a number of important skills education institutions strive for their students to acquire: collaboration, problem solving, communication, critical thinking, and digital literacy. What makes educational gaming appealing today is the plethora of genres and applications associated with it. Research tells us that children learn by doing, thinking, exploring, through quality interaction, intervention and relationships, founded on children’s interests and abilities across a variety of contexts. Active learning is the process by which learning engages and challenges children and young people’s thinking using real-life and imaginary situations. It takes full advantage of the opportunities for learning presented by spontaneous play, planned play, purposeful play, investigating, exploring, events, life experiences and focused learning and teaching. The use of games in the classroom has active learning at its core and is one of the reasons why they are potentially so powerful in education. There are lots of reasons why games are so powerful in education and a list of reasons might include: • Games are a form of play. That gives us intensity and involvement. • Games are a form of fun. That gives us enjoyment and pleasure. • Games have rules. That gives us structure. • Games have goals. That gives us motivation. • Games have problem solving. That sparks our creativity. • Games have story. That gives us emotion. • Games have interaction. That gives us social groups. • Games have outcomes and immediate feedback. Latest research from Hattie depicted the importance of immediate feedback in student learning. Reasons to use digital games in learning.1. Games motivate and engage students right from the start 2. Games can require students to: make principled decisions solve problems at a deep level use higher order thinking be complex thinkers be creative communicate with others be active investigators use their long term and short term memory engage in self-monitoring and constructivism participate in an interdependent world be reflective and self-directed learners. 3. Games can create immersive learning experiences impossible to access any other way
4. Games provide a way to incorporate popular culture into teaching and learning 5. It is a way to value students’ experiences 6. Students need to learn to read a variety of multimodal texts of which games are one example 7. Games link students to everyday literacies (critical literacy, visual literacy, etc.) 8. There are a wealth of other texts around games that can be integrated into the program (eg. fan sites, gaming magazines, reviews, etc.) 9. Games can be easily integrated into most curriculum programs 10. The social aspect of game play. Not only about the film, the sophistication of the robot can we feel in a game. Surely it will be very exciting if you can play your favorite robot. Robot-themed games are already popular among gamers.
